Wise Words Wednesday 14.08.19

“Show me a person who has never made a mistake and I’ll show you someone who has never achieved much.”
― Joan Collins

I need to explain my absence from WordPress for the last 2 or 3 weeks. I had my exams and was trying to focus on them, albeit I know the extent of my focus 😀 Haha. Anyway, I am hopefully back to regular posting and there would be a bevy of posts on my blog. For a few days after the exams, I was just proacrastinating and it had already been so long since I had posted, I felt weird even saying anything. But I love my blog so much, that I could never think of leaving it forever. More posts on poetry, and travel coming soon. Have a great day everyone!

The Faux Farewell Speech

The One I am Too Nice to Actually Say!

What it feels like to write your exit speech when you’re not even going yet. With no exit strategy in sight. My frame of mind is just as expected. They don’t lie when they say that you learn from your experiences. I’ve learned something from each and every one of you. Actively or passively. And that’s why experiences are valued more than studies.

I’m happy and sad to have come here and have mixed feelings about going too. Wait a minute – I think I’m only happy. I will miss some people. Some more than the others. And having been on both sides of the ODC, as being the only person of life and annuity, I know which side is better. And where I received some more love. A bit of unsolicited advice. There’s also a teeny problem of sharing knowledge. Nobody wants to. And if you could, people would feel more welcome, and with warm feelings. Maybe the attrition rate wouldn’t be so high then.

I wrote this little scribble a few months ago. When I had some bad days and did not know of a way out. It is not that I was sad, I was just tired and fast running out of patience. I had learned all that I had needed to, and there was no spark with the work I was doing. And that can wreak havoc on your life and mental health in the long run. Anyway, good news, an exit is in sight. And I can safely post this without any people reading and reacting outlandishly! Maybe I will do a post with my plan, how did I get here, and all the optimism that fuelled my decisions in the last few days. Share your eccentric office situations if you’d like, or your wins because I’m here to read it all. Thanks for reading. Have a good day 🙂

Where have I been?

I have been gone a little bit; inactive I would like to think. Infact, yesterday I missed the wise Words Wednesday too! There have been some changes in my life. Some things I wanted to achieve about 10 months ago are falling into place now. To say that I have been busy would be an understatement. But that has never stopped me before from blogging. So I wonder what combination of cause and effect situations rendered me inactive on WordPress.

One is that I have been juggling work, emails, formal meetings, deadlines, Instagram accounts and trying to sleep! 😛 Jokes aside, it has been a bit of a muddle. Everything all at once, and since I did not want the blog to suffer, obviously IT bore the brunt of all my tiredness.

I guess if everything falls through, I will have more time to sit and write a lot. I have been using a lot of my creative energy over on Instagram, where whatever you do, the algorithm would hate you! Not the most ideal platform for writers, but then what is nowadays? You could say that it is a little bit of a writers block too.

Anyway, I will try to make more of an effort from now on! I have a few travel posts, 1 haul post and some book reviews that I need to write and publish. Please send wishes, and happy writing vibes so I get on the keyboard and churn out posts for my sanity!

Have a great day everyone! 🙂

Top 10 Reasons Why You Should Have a Blog

Last night, I had a very weird thought strike me- what would I be without my blog? How would my life be different today? How would I express myself?

These questions were different from the food-related ones that normally float around in my mind 😉 I believe that when I started my blog, it was just going to serve as a motivation for me to write more. And that it still does! I set goals for the posting schedule and mostly stick to them which gives a regularity to my writing. And going diverse – poems, write-ups, haiku, creates a beautiful mix I think. So for today’s Top Ten Tuesday, I am listing down all the reasons why you should have your own blog.

Almost all of the people reading right now would already have a blog, probably more accomplished than mine. But you can find out why I write for my blog. Also, this can be directed towards new writers. Continue reading “Top 10 Reasons Why You Should Have a Blog”

My Blog Turns Two!

Two. Last year it was one! It is all so surreal. Is it weird I have no words? While normally I’m rambling?

I have a couple of people to thank for this. Although I had had this thought of a blog for a long while before I finally took the plunge. Before I finally started researching about the best platforms to do this, I was a common person, just writing for the sake of it, living off on the appreciation of two-three friends who would be privileged enough to read my poetry. But, having a blog has been a rewarding experience. I felt myself getting more confident about my writing, even when I changed my style of prose and poetry. Even when I chose to write on more complex, non-mainstream topics. Choosing to focus on the moment has also been a big part of my writing in the last year. Looking at the blog, I can actually track my growth, the variation of the thought process and in me as a person.

My first thank you is directed to the WordPress community. Continue reading “My Blog Turns Two!”

The One With 500 Followers!

December has always been a special month for me. With the beautiful winter in full force and the festive atmosphere, I always find it to be the most magical time of the year. A lot of people are excited about the advent of Christmas, as well. I just celebrated my birthday a few days ago and I got an early present in the form of 500 blog followers! We are a big family of 500 F.R.I.E.N.D.S. now and hence, the title reference from a famous sitcom.

I had been looking forward to this milestone since I had about 450 followers. But, I lost count when I recently moved to a new city. Therefore, it came as a pleasant surprise when I looked at the 503 number on December 14th, 2016. It is a big deal for me because I never imagined so many people would be interested in reading my humble blog. But, time and again, the WordPress community has restored my belief in myself. I have been encouraged by your likes, comments, and follows. Continue reading “The One With 500 Followers!”

Blog Birthday & Bonus Blogging Tips

Today, July 12 is the official birthday of Vintage Sapience, yay! Once again, I thank you all 🙂 I wrote a sappy post yesterday, but obviously, that’s not enough ( Emo old me!)

I had wanted a blog for long but kept postponing it, because I didn’t know the when and the and how. It was a new thing. But, when I started off with WordPress, everything looked so much simpler, I didn’t stop planning and designing my blog for a whole week! Continue reading “Blog Birthday & Bonus Blogging Tips”

Blog Birthday Month !

Dear Readers,

July is the birthday month for this blog, Vintage Sapience. And I couldn’t be happier. 😀

When I started a year ago, I had no idea I would find such encouraging community of bloggers, people who are so much more affectionate than anyone you’d meet personally. (I wish I was exaggerating!)

I’ve been candid, and brutally honest in all of my posts, something that doesn’t quite come naturally to me anymore, as a person. I always thought I had scarce material for having a good blog, but somehow it was always brimming with new content. I willed myself to write more, to write better and to go back to what I loved the most – poetry. Through good times and tough ones, I decided to pen down something to keep up the posts. Because it made me happy. Writing down made me feel calm and at peace with this world that’s spinning faster than I could’ve handled. Continue reading “Blog Birthday Month !”
