Ocean of …

I thought I was less for you. Look now at this ocean of poetry.

This represents how one could feel inferior in a relationship, or not sufficient. But in this case, it’s visible that the love was true, and immense when a lot of poetry is born in the process. It proves that there is no comparison because so much art, love, poetry and prose have been created by their being in love. It’s a good sign.

Besotted

Besotted means strongly infatuated.
Yardstick means a measuring rod a yard long, typically divided into inches. A standard used for comparison.
The second last prompt for #augunfiltered was Besotted. And here’s my piece:

Besotted, I look for you in others
A yardstick by which they’re measured.
Coz I know, I cannot survive eternity
If you’re not here right by me.

PRIDE (micro-poetry)

At the first touch of your trembling lips
Mine breathe cold ice

Gathering strength
Blues meet the eyes.

No universe can satiate
Drowned souls of love’s frostbite

Two zany imperfect outliers
In this glorious moment bind.

I have been posting some of my very first poetry on this blog with the Flashback Friday series. Now I can reach a couple more bloggers and that brings me immense happiness. This poem, in particular, is one of my favorites, because the theme is so much more contemporary than my others. The theme is experiencing that moment, the second of infinite love that one can feel with the acceptance and embrace of another. I did not start it that way, but it ended up being very liberating. I’d love to know your thoughts on it too.

SALONI

Moiety

It doesn’t matter

how many words were unsaid,

Because each moiety of my heart

would love you anyway

With every bated breath!

Moiety means each of two parts into which a thing is or can be divided. Indefinite share or part. For ex: the tax was to be delivered in two pieces.
Bated means eagerly or anxiously.

Bated breath literally means “holding one’s breath. .

The next prompt of #augunfiltered was moiety. I must admit it proved to be a very challenging prompt but the thought in the post is very simple. That even if your heart is broken into a million pieces, each one is capable of love anyway. In fact, it makes your heart and your feelings even bigger when you’ve gone through something tragic. Because you can now recognise the importance of each moment and emotion. Here the person is waiting with bated breath because they are ready to love even with their heart in pieces. It’s not terribly sad, but very inviting. .

Lotus

A rose for my love.
That’s what I grew up believing
Just an enigma
It’s red, it’s delicate like a dove
And, I accepted it without knowing.

But since I’d met you
The definitions faded away
I learned that
A lotus lasts for a thousand years
A rose lasts for a day.

You were here, and without any fear,
you decided to stay.
I knew I’d found my lotus
The promised forever was near
I knew we’d bloom together,
come December or May.

Brown Love!

chocolate.png

Honey how I wish

I felt for you

Like I feel for chocolate!

What I feel about chocolate is ineffable- I can never quite express in words. February being the month of love, I’ll follow a pattern of appreciation of all the things we love and adore. This is a funny, satirical one, I would think!

Red & Black Dream

Under the dusk of your kohl-veiled eyes
And the doting of bright-red lips,

Imagining the infinite possibilities
My heart soars..skips a beat.

Warm, tender manoeuvers
Inviting me close to belief,

A red and black nightmare
Unfurling like a dream.

This was first posted on this blog in February 2016. I’ve come a long way since then but its sophistication and the thought still engulf me completely. I was moved when I had finally finished this piece. And isn’t that what writing is? Finding the words to express the ineffable 😀 I do hope you guys love this as much as I gush about it!
