Flashback Friday: Sole Soul

She is aglow with the right vibe,

Exuding through her radiant soul.

Men see only the embellished sole.

I’ve started Flashback Friday to repost some posts because I have a lot more followers than I did last year. It is also a very simple way to reminisce about my state of mind from an year ago! This was a surprise haiku that just came to be because I was thinking about how inner beauty is  much more than apparent beauty that people so revere.

Flashback Friday: Desolate

Languished innards
A rage gains traction.

Putrid with power
Of your behemoth play.

Single swift motion
But a slash and a burn.

One soul surrendered
Broken, two bodies lay.

This was a poem about how heartbreak leaves behind two bodies. Some of my poetry is more profound between the lines than with the words. This is one of them and was posted on the blog on May 29, last year. With the Flashback Friday series, I have been posting some poems and articles I wrote when I didn’t have as many followers so more people can see it now and share their views.

“The best thing for being sad,” replied Merlin, beginning to puff and blow, “is to learn something. That’s the only thing that never fails. You may grow old and trembling in your anatomies, you may lie awake at night listening to the disorder of your veins, you may miss your only love, you may see the world about you devastated by evil lunatics, or know your honour trampled in the sewers of baser minds. There is only one thing for it then — to learn. Learn why the world wags and what wags it. That is the only thing which the mind can never exhaust, never alienate, never be tortured by, never fear or distrust, and never dream of regretting. Learning is the only thing for you. Look what a lot of things there are to learn.”

― T.H. White, The Once and Future King

“Have you ever heard the wonderful silence just before the dawn? Or the quiet and calm just as a storm ends? Or perhaps you know the silence when you haven’t the answer to a question you’ve been asked, or the hush of a country road at night, or the expectant pause of a room full of people when someone is just about to speak, or, most beautiful of all, the moment after the door closes and you’re alone in the whole house? Each one is different, you know, and all very beautiful if you listen carefully.”
Norton Juster, The Phantom Tollbooth

Hoping for peace and tranquility for everyone, regardless of where you live and what you do. Have a great day 🙂

“A star falls from the sky and into your hands. Then it seeps through your veins and swims inside your blood and becomes every part of you. And then you have to put it back into the sky. And it’s the most painful thing you’ll ever have to do and that you’ve ever done. But what’s yours is yours. Whether it’s up in the sky or here in your hands. And one day, it’ll fall from the sky and hit you in the head real hard and that time, you won’t have to put it back in the sky again.”

C. JoyBell C.

Knowing and having. Not having and grieving are are all part of life. Sometimes we lose the one thing we hold most dear. But it doesn’t mean that we can never have it back. We learn that we should cherish the present, live in the moment and appreciate all that we’ve been blessed with. Have a great day! 🙂

“But even so, every now and then I would feel a violent stab of loneliness. The very water I drink, the very air I breathe, would feel like long, sharp needles. The pages of a book in my hands would take on the threatening metallic gleam of razor blades. I could hear the roots of loneliness creeping through me when the world was hushed at four o’clock in the morning.”

– Haruki Murakami, The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle

Loneliness is a common feeling, even when we’re among crowds. It is a crippling emotion that can slowly make you hollow. Although, there is no one solution for this. Finding your people, your interests and/or confiding in family can help. Otherwise, there is always the internet, where you can find and make good friends. Or channel those feelings into beautiful work. Hoping everyone has someone! Have a great day 🙂
